Publishing
As a publisher, you may have recently noted the exciting news that several major publishing houses are moving production of their paperback titles onto FSC certified paper. We believe that this is an exciting development in “green” book production. Chris Fowler International is actively promoting the green agenda within the publishing sector as we are also at the forefront of “social manufacturing” within the UK, and have gone to great lengths to ensure that all our services are as ethically produced as possible:
- All books are produced on FSC certified stock, ensuring that we are actively working with the Forest Stewardship Council to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world's forests.
- All work is manufactured to ISO14001 standards.
- We are signing up for carbon emissions control which will allow us to assess the production of carbon emissions from all sources and, via the Woodland Trust, to plant sufficient trees each year to absorb that level of emitted carbon.
- Working in conjunction with Oxfam, we have built a school in Africa. This year we aim to build a water pump in the village and provide animals and equipment.
- We also work locally with schools in the deprived borough of Southwark to assist them with training and development of their pupils and to raise the profile of the print industry as a career opportunity.
Chris Fowler International has been able to utilise its skills and experience in fast turnaround, time critical production and offer many publishing companies, large and small, a cost effective and high quality service.
Publishers, working to tight deadlines and margins, have also benefitted from the ability of Chris Fowler International to produce orders within our subsidiary production facilities in New York and Hong Kong. This facility has enabled clients to place one order, with one supplier and ensure delivery across the globe, reducing both distribution costs and the environmental impact of book production.
